F.A.S.T Differentials
Your job is to differentiate between the 5 movement dysfunctions.
1. Neurological Dysfunction
2. Soft Tissue Dysfunction
3. Mechanical Joint Dysfunction
4. Systemic Inflammatory Process
5. Osteoarthritic Change
You will use your evaluation tools and the findings to differentiate between the 5 movement dysfunctions
Subjective Findings
Palpation Findings
Neurological Signs
Muscle Resistance
Active Motion vs Passive Motion
End Feel
Subjective
You will take what you learn from the subjective conversation to begin to differentiate the movement dysfunction.
Neurological Signs
Reflexes
Muscle resistance following the myotome
Numbness following the dermatome
You will add your neurological signs to your subjective findings to further narrow down your differential.Â
Palpation
Muscle spasm, swelling, bruising, temperature, tenderness.
You will use what you find during palpation in addition to your subjective and neurological findings to further narrow down your differential.
Muscle Resistance
Hesitant and Painful
Hesitant and Painless
Strong and Painless
Weak and Painless
You will use what you find with muscle resistance, add that to your subjective, neurological and palpation findings to continue to narrow down your differential.Â
