The F.A.S.T Approach™ offers a powerful and repeatable system that will transform your practice. You'll gain a clear roadmap for every patient, ensuring you never feel lost or uncertain again.

  • Increase Client Satisfaction

When a client's pain is quickly and accurately addressed, their satisfaction soars. Instead of feeling like they are just "going through the motions," they see tangible progress because the clinician is treating the root cause, not just the symptom.

  • Increase Your Profits

A practice that consistently delivers exceptional results will see an increase in profits through a combination of factors. The enhanced efficiency of the F.A.S.T Approach allows clinicians to optimize their time, allowing more clients to be seen while providing more focused, high-value care.

  • Strengthen Your Reputation

Most importantly, a reputation for clinical excellence becomes the most powerful marketing tool. Positive word-of-mouth referrals from satisfied clients are invaluable, leading to a steady stream of new business. The ability to solve complex, chronic issues that other practitioners may have missed elevates the clinic's standing in the community, building a strong professional reputation that attracts clients and potential new hires.

  • Increase Client Loyalty

When a client experiences a consistent outcome, they learn to trust your brand. They know what to expect and can rely on you to deliver. This reliability is the foundation of a strong relationship, as it gives them confidence that you will meet their needs time and time again. This is especially important in service-based industries where the outcome is not a tangible product.

Meet the Founder

My name is Kelly Roberts Lane, DPT, FACSM. I am a physical therapist with 20 years of experience. I successfully run a cash-based clinic, Fix It physical therapy, with 2 sites, employing many PTs over the years. I and have developed a system to provide predictable care, consistency in diagnosis and treatment, and efficiency.

This proprietary system, known as the F.A.S.T Approach™, is now something I want to share with the wider physical therapy community. My goal is to help other physical therapists and clinics improve their practices and become a community in the process.

I have successfully trained a number of physical therapists in the F.A.S.T Approach™, and their success in learning and implementing the system has been remarkable. Regardless of their prior experience or professional background, all have become highly proficient at delivering exceptional care. The therapists I have trained are now thriving in their own practices.

A key indicator of this success is our average visit count. On average, we can resolve a client's movement issue in just 2 visits at Fix It physical therapy. The F.A.S.T Approach™ has meticulously refined every step of the process—from differential diagnosis and treatment to recovery—making our care highly efficient and effective. This success has led to significant growth for both of our clinics through word-of-mouth referrals. Our clients value our ability to provide a swift and successful resolution to their movement issues.

The F.A.S.T Approach™ is a proprietary system for physical therapists, designed to improve the consistency and accuracy of clinical reasoning, treatment and recovery. It empowers clinicians to quickly differentiate diagnoses and accelerate treatment.

At its core, the F.A.S.T Approach™ provides a structured framework for rapidly and precisely addressing the root cause of a patient's movement limitations. This system moves beyond a symptom-based approach, focusing instead on targeted evaluation and treatment that streamlines the entire process.

The F.A.S.T Approach™ revolutionizes physical therapy by addressing the root cause of pain from a mechanical movement dysfunction: restricted joint movement. Through gentle, targeted micromovements, we restore the natural rolling motion of the joints. This releases tension in surrounding tissues (muscles, fascia, tendons), allowing them to return to their optimal length. The result? Pain-free movement and the ability to be active.

The F.A.S.T Approach™ is designed to be universally applicable, serving clients of all ages and abilities. The system simplifies the complex landscape of physical therapy by focusing on a core principle: movement is movement. This lens allows us to effectively treat individuals with any medical history, with the ultimate goal of increasing their movement, elevating their activity level, and, in turn, enhancing their overall quality of life and joy.

The F.A.S.T Approach™ is a comprehensive system built on 3 key pillars:

  • Facilitation: This initial phase focuses on preparing the body for optimal movement. It involves hands-on manual therapy techniques to restore normal joint motion and influence the surrounding tissue. The goal is to "unlock" the body, allowing for fluid, pain-free movement, and setting the stage for the next steps. Without this crucial first step, a client's body may be unable to perform exercises correctly or efficiently.

  • Activation: Once normal joint motion is facilitated, the next step is to activate the correct muscles and neural pathways. This phase goes beyond simple strengthening exercises. It's about restoring motor control—teaching the brain and body to communicate effectively so the right muscles fire at the right time. By isolating and activating key stabilizing muscles and movement patterns, we build a solid foundation of control and coordination. We follow the movement control with power and agility to allow for fluid movement.

  • Systematic Therapy: The power of the F.A.S.T Approach™ lies in its systematic nature. It's a structured, predictable process that moves clients from movement to basic stabilization to functional strength and, ultimately, to explosive power and agility. This methodical progression ensures consistency in every patient's diagnosis and treatment plan, regardless of the therapist. It provides a clear roadmap for care, making the journey from injury to recovery efficient and effective.

Why should I use a System?

A systematic approach ensures that every patient receives care based on the best available evidence by following a consistent, step-by-step process—from initial evaluation to treatment and reassessment.

In essence, using a system in physical therapy transforms the practice from a collection of individual efforts into a cohesive, well-oiled machine. It allows therapists to focus on what they do best—helping people move better and feel better—while ensuring that their practice is efficient, effective, and sustainable.

  • A system prevents crucial details from being missed. This leads to a more accurate diagnosis and a more effective treatment plan.

  • Systems for collecting and analyzing patient data allow therapists to objectively track a patient's progress. This enables them to make data-driven decisions about whether to progress or modify a treatment plan.

  • A systematic approach is the foundation of evidence-based practice. It allows therapists to integrate the best available research with their clinical expertise and the patient's values, leading to better results.

  • In any field, including healthcare, human error is inevitable. A systematic approach with built-in safeguards, such as checklists, helps to prevent mistakes before they can cause harm.

  • A systematic process for documenting and sharing patient information ensures that all members of the care team are on the same page. This reduces miscommunication and ensures continuity of care, especially when a patient is seen by multiple providers.

  • Automated systems for documentation reduce the administrative burden on therapists, freeing up more time for direct patient care. This leads to a more efficient and profitable practice.

  • A systematic approach ensures that the quality of care is consistent across all therapists in a clinic. This means that a patient can expect the same high-quality assessment and treatment, regardless of which therapist they see, which builds trust and confidence in the practice.

You Will Learn:

To improve the precision of your diagnoses and the efficiency of your treatments, by learning to view a movement dysfunction through the lens of neural control. This perspective shifts the focus from treating isolated pain at the tissue level to addressing the communication breakdown between the brain and body to influence the pain experience.

How to enhance your SOAP note and make it a working tool, by shifting its purpose from a static record to a dynamic, evolving document that drives your clinical decisions.

How to differentiate a diagnosis quickly and precisely every time, by shifting your mindset from collecting random information to using a structured, problem-solving framework. This approach allows you to efficiently connect a patient's symptoms to their root cause.

The importance of facilitation of normal joint movement in resolving a movement dysfunction because it directly impacts the body's entire control system, from how muscles activate to how pain is experienced.

How to monitor recovery and how to use it as a powerful tool that helps you increase the effectiveness and efficiency of your treatment by providing objective evidence of progress and guiding your clinical decisions.

The F.A.S.T Approach™ is a clinical roadmap that guides you from the patient's first words to a targeted treatment plan. By following these steps, you ensure a clear, logical progression that always leads to the root cause of the dysfunction and the path of treatment.
